The dream for this large main floor was an open space with an incredible lake view. The owners asked that it have a casual feel and a long wall of storage and kitchen workspace. Our design team agreed that reconfiguring the space would make a huge difference to getting that lake view. Our plan involved replacing the single-panel entry door with a massive two-panel 12’ sliding door system. With a country kitchen aesthetic in mind, we started by laying maple hardwood throughout. We brightened the room by painting the natural pine ceiling in white. On the walls, we installed shiplap paneling. Then we refinished the Douglas Fir beams, restoring them to their natural tone and wood grain.
