Can you imagine walking into your bedroom only to discover it has had a complete professional makeover? This is exactly what happened with this bedroom. Unbeknownst to his wife, our client asked us to transform the dated master bedroom in conjunction with the main floor renovation.

Our vision for the dated room was to create a relaxing space to escape to that echoes the style of the main floor. We began by repainting the brown wall-paneling and ceiling in American White by Benjamin Moore, a gorgeous hue with a clean gray undertone that dramatically changed the feel of the room. We then replaced a three-pane window with an eight-foot sliding glass door that opens onto the wrap-around deck. This made an incredible difference, bringing in more light, opening the flow of the space, and giving a grand lake view.

For the décor, we started with a wrought-iron bed to add sophisticated elegance and anchor the space. Above the bed, we installed a pendant light from Wayfair that’s made of natural fibers. This pendant gives real currency to the design—it’s a look that’s been featured in every big design show over the past few months. We completed the design with a framed vintage map and textiles in our airy ocean-and-sand palette.
